front yard lawn conversion

We converted half of our front yard to three raised veggies beds, plus some drought-tolerant landscaping.  No more weeds and on top of that, we have okra (prettiest flowers ever), malabar spinach (aka slippery green) and a wee little eggplant.  Every day, I harvest my own food.  It’s so cool!

Thanks to Yvette Roman for being such a great role model.  Check out her blog about converting your yard.  Also, thanks to YardFarm here in Austin for setting up the whole yard for us.

Hello! I just came across your yard while perusing google and I think that it is absolutely fantastic. I work for the editorial team at a website called Houzz.com and would love to speak to you about featuring your lawn/front yard conversion on the site. Is this something that you would be interested in? Feel free to get back to me at your convenience and I would be happy to discuss this with you more. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

Hi Annie, Wow…I’m thrilled! We love our yard, would be great to have this appear on Houzz and show others how easy it is to replace a grass lawn with native plants.
