British Virgin Islands landscape

Monday, June 25th, 2012

As promised, here’s the counterpart landscape to the Mendocino one last week.  The same year I did Candace and Russell’s destination wedding in Northern California, I did Nicole and Kevin’s British Virgin Islands wedding, just days later.  So we went from bracing seaside cliffs on the Pacific Ocean to balmy Caribbean waters in BVI.  From sweaters to swimsuits.

Here’s the happy couple, Nicole and Kevin, ready to go sailing the day after their wedding.

A worthy sunset on the island of Anegada.

And the wedding couple catching some zzz’s in a hammock on Anegada.

Mendocino landscape

One of my first big destination weddings was years ago on June 18 in Mendocino, a quaint town about 3 1/2 hours north of San Francisco.  Noah came with me and we took these portraits of each other out on the bluffs, using my panoramic camera.  We’re wearing big ol’ sweaters in the June gloom.  Invigorating and stunning scenery.

A few days later we were in the British Virgin Islands photographing another wedding.  An entire different landscape.  I’ll post those next week.

And here’s Candace and Russ, who got married on the bluffs, then had a fantastic party at The MacCallum House Inn.

I always joke that this image looks like something out of a Bronte novel.  Oh, Heathcliff!

at the laundromat

If you have to do laundry on a road trip, why not have some fun?  We sure did!  First, find yourself an authentic Econ-O-Wash.  Then, load in some film into your camera to be cross processed.  I loved being rolled around in the clothes cart (especially since I had a sprained ankle…it’s so hard to take photos when you’re not ambulatory).  Check out Mary…embracing her Downy softener sheets.I think Bob is the only one actually doing laundry.
