Art in my house.

July 21st, 2010

Art in my house or, a funny little game that I made up. I have an old coffee jar in my bathroom.  I printed out a bunch of words that I like on old scraps of paper that I couldn’t bear to throw away (pack rat or recycler, you decide).

Every morning, I dig through it and pull out a new word and place it in front.  Yesterday it was “happenstance”.  Great word, eh?  But “bucolic”…that one just rolls off the tongue and I had to photograph it.  Nice diversion when you’re doing bathroom time.  I can’t believe that I’m actually divulging that, but hey, I like to prettify all aspects of life, even bathroom time.

Art in a Texas back yard.

There’s just something perfect about this back yard sculpture.  Okay, so it’s a tin can on a pipe.  Not sure what it’s for, but I like it.

Art on the roof of SF MOMA

July 19th, 2010

It’s art and it’s in the roof garden of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.  I like that it’s a bit tricky to figure out things spatially.  I kept waiting for no people to be in my shot, but I think it’s better with the people.  So there!

One year ago today, I photographed beautiful challah.

July 18th, 2010

One year ago today, I photographed Alicia and Michael’s wedding at House on the HIll.  They had such pretty linens and pretty challah too.  My favorite part was when the rabbi said, “y’all can stomp on the glass”.  Mazeltov and Yeehaw!

Eggs Sardo at Haven Cafe in Lenox.

July 16th, 2010

I remember this breakfast well because it was an interesting combination of ingredients and especially yummy on a cold morning.  Eggs “Sardo” from Haven Cafe in Lenox.  Two poached eggs on sauteed artichoke hearts & spinach with dill hollandaise.

On a side note, I haven’t been photographing my food of late because so many people are hauling out their iPhones in restaurants, it’s a tad embarrassing.  After years of documenting my food, I guess it’s time to find a new subject!

Housewarming in a Texas Victorian

July 15th, 2010

My friends J & J bought a house way out in the Texas countryside.  It’s a beautiful old Victorian with many wonderful little details.  Fun to photograph and the housewarming was a smash too!

Red Plush, a book to read

July 14th, 2010

Beautiful old books in a house where I shot a wedding.  Along with “Red Plush”, there’s Plain Tales of the Hills, Four American Poets, Honours Divided and the Complete Canada (or is that Canasta?).
