Caroline and Jamie, wedding at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi.
Caroline and Jamie had their wedding at Monmouth Plantation in historic Natchez, MIssissippi.
Natchez is one of the only towns that wasn’t destroyed in the Civil War so many historic homes are still standing. Jamie and Caroline know much about Natchez and took us on a tour the day after the wedding. They have toured many of the old homes, but their favorite is still Monmouth Plantation where they got engaged. It was beautiful and a glimpse into the past, especially the painted wallpaper murals.
Some of my favorite moments of the day:
Mint Juleps in metal cups.
The traditional exit through the arched sabers at the end of the ceremony.
The wallpaper mural of West Point…which was especially significant to Jamie who has done two tours in Iraq.
The violinist who did the neat Southern tradition of leading everyone from cocktail hour to reception.
The crazy dancing at the reception. Journey at its finest.
Caroline’s chipmunk cheeks…so adorable and squeeze-able.
The fresh pineapples, a tradition meant to indicate hospitality.
Getting to hang out with Amos and Roseann (Caroline’s sister), whose wedding I photographed at the Adamson House in Malibu in 2005.
Special thanks to Jennifer Lindberg of Jennifer Lindberg Weddings for photographing with me for 4 days and for being enthusiastic about the idea of eating fried catfish.
