Dan and Leesy got married waaaaay out in Marfa, Texas, probably one of the coolest places, ever.  They are from Brooklyn (equally cool!), and most of their guests were, well, not from Marfa, so it was quite a journey for everyone.  When that happens, you know that everyone who made the journey is someone special to the couple.  There were many witty and touching toasts, plus an spirited hora among the cactus and Airstreams.

After the hora, the guests were rewarded with locally sourced food prepared by the rockstar caterer, Outstanding In The Field.  They are known for traveling around the country making dinner and serving it at one super long table. They came into Marfa a few days early and gathered the food from locals.  They even got a goat, which must not happen very often because they were quite psyched about it.  They listed all dishes on the menu and included the people that had provided the food.  It was a memorable wedding dinner.

Both Dan and Leesy are creative (Dan is an architect and Leesy is a textile designer) so it’s no surprise to see all the amazing design details that went into the wedding.  There’s the “YAY’ signs, and the Airstreams with signs.  The paper pom poms, which always delight.  The huppah was made by Dan. Margaritas with little flags.  The invitation was a poster using wood, metal and digital type screen-printed over abstracted map of Texas.  Even the welcome bag was personalized using silk screening.

One more thing:  Dan and Leesy were thrilled to find a film shooter for their wedding.  They are kindred spirits because a) Dan required me…in my contract (!!!)…to shoot polaroids with his vintage SX-70 and b)  they sent me a vintage SX-70 as a thank you gift.  I feel privileged to document all three days of their wedding.  Yay!
